Hi Friends,
Things are still not going well, although Mom had
a good day today. She's still in the hospital
although we may get her moved to rehab tomorrow if all
goes well. The move has been delayed because she
needed blood several times (low hemoglobin thanks to
some bleeding from the blood thinner and a problem
from the triple lumin (sp?) the first hospital had put
in her leg). A triple lumin is the portal for blood
draws/transfusions and IVs. She now has one in her
arm and it's a special kind for keeping in longer
term. When you're on blood thinner, sometimes the
blood gets too thin and you bleed in areas you don't
want to bleed...not a serious problem but a
complication. The infections seem to be clearing up
and she was much more alert and responsive
today...hurray!
Dad seems to be having every possible complication
from the triple bypass. He's still on dialysis
because the coding messed up his kidneys and we don't
know how long it will take to get them working
properly again. Now it seems that the surgery
triggered problems with gall stones that had been
dormant. They put in a drain today in his gall bladder
duct but couldn't put in a second one, so tomorrow
they're doing something called an ERCP (I don't know
what the letters the stand for) which will clear out
some of that problem. They tell me it's like an
endoscopy (the E I guess) but goes all the way to the
liver and gall bladder. He's knocked out for it, but
he has to stay on the ventilator for it (he's been
back on that since Sunday night) which he HATES!
So we still need lots of prayers!
Thanks!
Susan
