Hi Friends and Family,
Mom is better and should be moving out of ICU and back to the
fourth floor (regular unit) tomorrow (as soon as a room is available for
her). Bleeding has been stopped for several days; she's taking food
through the food tube and says she's hungry for "real food." She told
me she wants "steak, chicken, asparagus, pineapple, and chocolate chip
ice cream." Joan, the speech therapist, is going to give her some
chocolate ice cream tomorrow --- they start with soft foods.
White blood count has been normal for five days! Hallelujah!
Now we just have to get her breathing on her own. She goes
back to CPAP weaning trials to get off the ventilator once she's back on
a regular floor. So pray that it works and she can do it now. She
hasn't been able to do it for a couple weeks because of the pulmonary
edema but the swelling in her arms and legs is down (not gone though).
And we need to pray that she can handle more food because they are
increasing the amounts of food too.
Thanks!
Susan
