Re: Chronicles of Narnia

I think the Professor sounds like someone who *has* seen magic, but is
still wonderful (and I read _The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe_
over and over many times before I even knew there were any other books,
so I have a pretty good impression of it on its own, if you see what I
mean). I didn't feel let down at all to find out that Digory was the
professor (except, of course, to wonder why he aged so quickly ...
hmmm, maybe there is an untold story there, where he went to another
world where you *do* age and keep your age when you come back to
ours?).

Seems to me there are a number of minor characters who act as you
describe -- e.g., the woman in _Time and Mr. Bass_ who simply accepts
Mr. Bass's story at face value because she is such an understanding
person. Though come to think of it, she *had* experienced some
enchantment from the Basidium jewels, so maybe she doesn't count. It's
true, I think, that there aren't many major ones.
