I know an older couple who were at Indiana University in Bloomington
when Herman B. Wells, one of the most amusingly kick-ass university
Presidents of all time, brought in the Kinsey Institute.

Before then, IU had been a hotbed of parochial Protestantism, ruled
over by tight-lipped cliques of anal retentive and ***ually inhibited
fanatics, smack dab in the middle of the Bible Belt. However, the
long suppressed forces of secularism were about to rise.

Wells decided to turn IU into a world class university, as well as
being perhaps the birthplace of the ***ual revolution in the US.

He had to fight endless battles against both the preachers and the
State legislature, and just kicked both of their *****. He also had
the knack for fund raising, bringing in enormous endowments from Eli
Lilly to subvert threats of cutbacks.

In short, the Slack was with him. His statue at IU reflects his
Overman character, his right hand holding an invisible cheeseburger.
